Personal testimonies from real Christians all over the world.
"One way the Gospel has really changed my life was that, as a child and teenager, I was really really shy and timid. It was like I was afraid to hear my own voice. Having to speak in front of other people made me so nervous, I would always start to sweat and it almost felt like my hands were tied behind my back. I hated it, I really wanted to be able to be useful to God and I knew I couldn't do that fully if I stayed this way. One day I was reading in 'Elias Aslaksens Last messages' and I read there that it is very common that people suffer from timidity and it said 'everyone who is timid needs to declare war on timidity, all-out war'. He said that timidity comes from unbelief, a lack of faith in God and a fear of man. In that moment, I declared all-out war against this in my heart. The only reason I was timid was actually my proud thoughts and a fear of man that made me shy and afraid to speak up. There were many, many times where I had to cry out to God and ask for help so that I could be free from this, so that I could actually be a help to people and be useful to God. I also allowed myself to be placed in positions that were outside of my comfort zone, but that I knew would be a blessing to others, and I prayed to God that it could be a blessing to the others, and that I could be free from people. It is definitely still a battle there sometimes, but without the gospel I would still be that same timid teenager. I can say that, by God's grace, its gone very well and I’ve become very happy and free! Life has become much more exciting and interesting, and also prayer works! Like it says, 'Draw near to God and He will draw near to you,' and He will help you in any situation you are faced with." Christina (USA)
