For our sakes Jesus bore our sin in His flesh so that all sin might be condemned there. He was willing to do it and He did do it! The significance that this has for us is immeasurable. Read more here about all that this means for all those who truly believe in Christ Jesus as the Son of God and the Son of Man.
By faith in the atonement of Christ we receive the forgiveness of sins. It is enough for us to know and believe fully and completely that according to the Scriptures He died for our sins. (1 Corinthians 15:3) This, in turn tells us that He lived here in this world without sinning; otherwise He Himself would have been guilty of death, and if that were the case, His death could not possibly have been an atoning death for us.
However, we are called not only to receive the forgiveness of sins, but to overcome all sin, to follow Him who committed no sin. 1 Peter 2:20-24. Thus it is this very thing, Christ manifested in the flesh—the condition of the Son of Man, His temptations, difficulties, battles and victories while He lived on earth—that is of such living interest and significance for us.
