Lord, drive out workers!

SONG: A moving song about bringing in God’s harvest from among the people.

Jesus told His disciples to pray that God would send out workers into His harvest. (Matthew 9:38) It was clear that Thore Bjørnstad had this same desire in His heart when He wrote the moving song “Lord, drive out workers!” Here it is sung by Sarah Kennedy Berge and Catherine Nevers.

In these last days, a bridal throng is gath'ring—
From many peoples, lands, and tribes brought nigh.
And for that glorious Day they are preparing
When Christ will come to meet them in the sky.

Lord, drive out workers! Whitened fields await!
Send words of life and comfort great
To those whose longing is Thy bride to be,
So they rejoice, from sin set free.

So many wait to hear God's Word imparted
By men whose spirit speaks of how they live,
Who've gone the way, are tested and wholehearted,
And therefore have the Word of God to give.

Lord, drive out workers! Whitened fields await!
Send words of life and comfort great
To those whose longing is Thy bride to be,
So they rejoice, from sin set free.

Let Zion's captives be led forth from Babel
To Zion's holy ground, so they're set free—
And every mouth is filled with song and laughter.
We praise Thee, Lord, for those sent forth by Thee.

Thanks, Lord, for messengers sent forth by Thee,
Who bring good news of liberty—
And what the Spirit clearly speaks they heed.
A harvest great they'll reap, indeed.
