Seek Jesus – you still can be saved!

SONG: Maybe you know someone who had a childhood faith and lost it. Maybe that was you yourself.

Hans Kristian Bertelsen wrote this song as a 20-year-old man in the 1960s. At that time many of the friends he had grown up with had lost their faith, and he wanted to encourage them to think back to how it had been, and to encourage them to take the step back to the Savior!

Maybe you know someone who had a childhood faith and lost it. Maybe that was you yourself. Whatever the case, it’s never too late to put your life back into the Savior’s hands.

Lyrics: Seek Jesus – you still can be saved! (You’ve oft on your childhood reflected)

You’ve oft on your childhood reflected,
Recalling the joy you once had
Before you by sin were affected.
Your days were so carefree and glad.
Remember at night mother praying;
Your forehead she gently caressed.
You’d smile as “good night” she was saying.
Secure, through the night you would rest.

You long for the peace that you had then,
Before you had reaped fruits of sin.
Peace left, and you saw things go bad when
Corruption from sin entered in.
Your heart once was lovingly beating
For Jesus who knows you by name.
You grasp at glad memories fleeting,
And grieve o’er your loss and your shame.

You chased after worldly excesses;
The faith of your childhood it cost.
No peace came with worldly successes;
On waves of distress you are tossed.
Turn now; there is yet time remaining.
You still can be saved - do not wait!
Your time here on earth’s quickly waning;
Seek Jesus before it’s too late.

The Savior can heal your heart’s grieving
And meet every need by His grace,
Your heart’s pain and anguish relieving.
He’ll gather you in His embrace.
Life’s answers by Him are provided;
Your future is safe in His hands.
If you are by faith always guided,
Eternal and blessed the bands.

Respond while you hear Jesus calling,
For soon the last trumpet we’ll hear.
Make haste for the nighttime is falling.
The end of life’s battle is near.
The Savior will soon come to meet us;
What freedom and joy are in store.
A summer eternal will greet us
In heaven’s blest home evermore.
