Our time on earth is hastening to its closing

SONG: While we are here, we can use our time to prepare ourselves for the day of Christ’s return!

In Luke 21:27-28, Jesus encourages us with these words: “Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

The lyrics of this song echo these words. Our time on earth will one day be over and Jesus will come to redeem those who have been faithful to Him. But while we are here, we can use our time to prepare ourselves for that great and glorious day! If we love Him and our hearts are burning for Him, then we can look forward to that day with great expectation, knowing that we are one of His own!

Lyrics: Our time on earth is hastening to its closing

Our time on earth is hast’ning to its closing;
The Day of Christ’s return is nigh, dear soul.
How quickly we’re eternity approaching!
Wake up, my friend, so you can reach the goal!

Prepare, dear friend!
Our Bridegroom’s soon returning.
Lift up your head;
He’s coming for His own.
Prepare, dear friend –
With heart for Jesus burning!
When battles end,
How blest to share His throne.

Our Bridegroom’s coming! Don’t you hear Him calling?
He’ll come for those made ready as His bride.
O may He find us faithful in the cleansing.
Let all that hinders now be cast aside.

Prepare, dear friend!
Our Bridegroom’s soon returning.
Lift up your head;
He’s coming for His own.
Prepare, dear friend –
With heart for Jesus burning!
When battles end,
How blest to share His throne.

Blest fellowship between the bride and Bridegroom –
Through death comes glory, life that will not cease.
By faith and faithfulness we conquer Edom –
Thus gain true joy and righteousness and peace.

Prepare, dear friend!
Our Bridegroom’s soon returning.
Lift up your head;
He’s coming for His own.
Prepare, dear friend –
With heart for Jesus burning!
When battles end,
How blest to share His throne.
