Warm their hearts, beloved brother

SONG: Let us have the mind of Christ, who did not come to be served, but to serve!

Christian song about having the mind of Christ

This song is an appeal to us to lay down our lives – our opinions, demands, etc. – for others, to show love, care, warmth and goodness to those around us. From these verses, we can see what the mind of Christ is:

“By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.” 1 John 3:16.

“This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” John 15:12-13.

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.” Philippians 2:5-8.

“… just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:28.

Lyrics:

Warm their hearts, beloved brother;
Heaven’s goodness give to them
With the mind of Christ, none other;
Heaven’s fullness will come in.
Warm their hearts, beloved brother;
Warm them with simplicity.
Warm them like a loving mother;
Look upon them tenderly.

Warm their hearts, beloved brother;
Clever words they do not need—
With the mind of Christ, none other;
Then their hungry hearts you’ll feed.
Warm them like a hen who gathers
All her young beneath her wings.
There they feel her heartbeat tender—
Safe from all that worry brings.

Warm their hearts, beloved brother,
Like a loving mother true,
With the mind of Christ, none other;
Show them heaven’s riches too.
Soon their time on earth has ended;
Through the gates of death they’ve passed.
Strengthen them with heaven’s comfort,
That they reach the goal at last.
